L.O4 Be able to present own design outcomes against a given theme or assignment brief

I will be making an interactive magazine in which i will present my illustrations and drawings in a sketchbook format. I will be using Indesign for compiling and displaying the images in. As i mentioned before, i will be going with a sketchbook theme. This is because i think it will suit the style of drawings i will be presenting.

Here are some screen shots of pages for my magazine.

I used the font Extrafine for the text to provide a sketchbook aesthetic and overall
i am very pleased with my magazine layout, the main thing i am pleased with is the sketchbook theme i have chosen as it is quite minimalist which i am happy with.

L.O3 Be able to use media safely to produce graphic image outcomes

Today i started on my portfolio which involved me adding buttons, animations, images and previewing then in a swf file. to add buttons i used the shape tools to create the shape of the buttons and then i used the buttons tab to add a link to the shapes, finally i exported the indesign file into an SWF file.

Today in InDesign I created a text frame. I had to create a text box by dragging out a designated area for the writing, and then I added in some placeholder text to fill the box.

Below is an interactive video clip in Indesign.

First i imported the media to be played in the document, then i created the play button using the shape tool which i made transparent except for the outline. Following that i applied a fading animation to the button so it would vanish when the video plays, this would allow clear viewing of the video.

L.O2; Be able to develop ideas for graphic image making

Below are some line drawings for my inspiration magazine.

These images were drawn in illustrator using the pen tool. The first image was drawn in my spare time while following a tutorial. However, most of it i drew myself i only followed it up to point of drawing guides. I am very pleased with this drawing since it shows my ability to draw with the pen tool very well.

The second image is me drawing the entire dragon. The head and neck are recycled from the previous image, and like the last image i partially followed a tutorial. I would have added more detail to it like spinal scales and claws but i am still happy with it.

Below are some images from the tutorials that i followed in order to create the two images above. The first set directly below is for the whole dragon and the ones at the bottom are for the head.

Here are some images that i have obtained from google of illustrated sketchbooks, i will be using these as inspiration for my magazine.

L.O1; Know about image making

For my project i will be making an interactive flash magazine in InDesign. I will focusing on drawing landscapes for a fantasy setting, this will coincide with my final major project which is on game narrative.

This is from the U.S Playstation magazine. The layout is crisp and clear and straight forward to read. The white text on the black background go together well. I especially like the font used for Ted Price's name as it gives a very hi-tech look and feel.

I am not sure where this is from but from what I've seen i like it. There is not a lot of text on this page but loads of birds. I like the choice of colour combination for the birds and the background.
